One Killed, Two Injured in Drone Attack on Car in Russia's Bryansk Region, Governor Says

MOSCOW — A 19-year-old man was killed and two people were wounded in a Ukrainian drone attack on a car in Russia's western Bryansk region, Governor Yegor Kovalchuk said on Telegram on October 21, according to Reuters, which said it could not independently verify the claim.
Bryansk region borders northern Ukraine, and its border districts have repeatedly reported drone and shelling incidents since Russia's invasion of Ukraine began in 2022. Russian officials regularly publish casualty reports from border regions, while Ukraine typically does not comment on specific attacks inside Russia.
On the same day, Ukrainian officials said Russian drones killed two people near Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, overnight; Kyiv's mayor said a Russian airstrike hit a high-rise apartment building and transport infrastructure in the capital, causing fires, and local authorities said a strike on a university in Kremenchuk, Poltava region, injured two.
The strikes came as US special envoy Steve Witkoff was scheduled to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Witkoff's talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in Norway on Tuesday were positive and that Witkoff would share the results with the Russian side.
