HONG KONG — Vietnamese Minister of Finance Ngo Van Tuan held bilateral talks on October 20 with Erin Browne, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs, to promote financial cooperation and discuss preparations for Vietnam's hosting of APEC 2027, Vietnam Investment Review reported. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting in Hong Kong.

Tuan highlighted the positive and substantive progress in the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and said the Ministry of Finance had consistently contributed to broader cooperation between the two countries. To prepare for APEC 2027, Vietnam plans to propose four groups of priority themes aligned with the Incheon Action Plan and APEC's vision, and sought US consultation, experience-sharing and support to refine them.

Browne said the US Treasury stood ready to work closely with Vietnam to translate the priorities into detailed action plans, and expressed a desire to deepen substantive cooperation under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework.

The 33rd APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting was held in Hong Kong on October 20-21. At the host's invitation, Tuan delivered a keynote address on macroeconomic developments alongside senior representatives of the Chinese and US finance ministries.
