Cambodia and Laos Hold Tourism Investment Matchmaking Forum in Stung Treng: Neighbours Mark 70 Years of Diplomatic Relations With About 250 Participants

Wednesday, October 21, 2026 · World · GSM News

Stung Treng Province in Cambodia hosted a Cambodia-Laos tourism investment matchmaking forum on October 20, alongside a parallel dialogue on cross-border tourist flows, as the two neighbours marked 70 years of diplomatic relations.

The events were presided over by Huot Hak, Cambodia's Minister of Tourism, and Suansavanh Viyaket, Laos' Minister of Culture and Tourism, and drew roughly 250 participants, including officials, delegates and private-sector tourism operators from both countries, alongside Sor Soputra, Governor of Stung Treng.

Organisers said the forums are meant to showcase the tourism potential of the region by connecting destinations in Cambodia and Laos, creating new travel experiences and attracting more visitors to both countries. The investment matchmaking strand is aimed at expanding business-to-business links and opening opportunities for the private sectors on each side.

The celebrations for the 70th anniversary began on October 19 and run to October 22 in Stung Treng, before moving to Champasak Province in Laos. (Compiled from The Khmer Daily Network, October 21, sourced to Cambodia's Minister of Tourism)
