Ireland Name Two Uncapped Players in 36-Man Squad: Dan Sheehan Captains Again as Injured Skipper Caelan Doris Misses Nations Championship Series

Ireland named the uncapped Ulster pair of Jamie Benson and James McNabney in a 36-man squad on October 21 for next month's Nations Championship games. Hooker Dan Sheehan will again captain the team in the absence of skipper Caelan Doris, who is recovering from knee and foot issues. Ireland host Argentina, Fiji and South Africa in Dublin on the first three weekends of November before heading to Twickenham for the final weekend.
Jack Conan has joined Doris on the sidelines after injuring his shoulder while scoring a crucial try in Leinster's 48-23 European Champions Cup win away to Clermont last weekend. Also out through injury are Harry Byrne, Jack Crowley, Iain Henderson, Paddy McCarthy, Calvin Nash and Bryn Ward. Ryan Baird, Mack Hansen, Tommy O'Brien and Andrew Porter return after missing the July away fixtures against Australia, Japan and New Zealand.
Former England junior international Benson, who can play several roles in the backline, is included after only four games for Ulster following his summer move from Harlequins. McNabney returns after sitting out last season with a serious knee injury. (Compiled from Reuters, October 21)
