New Zealand: Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Discloses Cyber Breach Involving Some Files and Two Employee Email Accounts

New Zealand medical device maker Fisher & Paykel Healthcare has disclosed that it was made aware of unauthorised and unlawful access to a subset of company files and two employee email accounts, Reuters reported on October 21. The company said some of the files accessed contained personally identifiable information, that it is in the process of informing the people affected, and that it has notified the relevant authorities.
The company said there is no evidence that the unlawful activity compromised the system that maintains patient data, and that there has been no impact on its products, manufacturing operations or supply chain. It said it believes the incident is contained, with no evidence of ransomware or malware identified, and that it expects no material financial impact. New Zealand's National Cyber Security Centre did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
Fisher & Paykel Healthcare is headquartered in New Zealand and listed on the New Zealand Exchange. Its main products include devices to treat obstructive sleep apnea. (Reporting by Reuters)
