World Economic Forum Holds Country Strategy Meeting in Panama: 27 Global Business Leaders Gather as the Mulino Government Presents Its Investment Vision

Panama's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on October 21 that the World Economic Forum (WEF), in collaboration with the government of President José Raúl Mulino, is holding its Country Strategy Meeting in Panama starting October 21, bringing together global and regional business leaders to discuss the country's strategic priorities and economic outlook. Panama was chosen by the Forum this year to host the meeting.
The program includes a special dialogue between President Mulino and chief executives and board chairs of global companies, along with high-level meetings with ministers on macroeconomic stability, reforms to improve the investment climate and opportunities in key sectors. Minister of the Presidency Juan Carlos Orillac, speaking on behalf of Mulino, thanked the Forum for its support and confidence, noting that Panama had faced the aftermath of the October 9 earthquake with resilience and unity; he said Mulino has firmly reiterated that "Panama is rising, moving forward and projecting itself to the world with greater momentum." Kristelle Getzler, Secretary of Economic Affairs and Competitiveness at the Ministry of the Presidency, said the government aims to present its vision to investors and promote foreign direct investment as a driver of jobs.
The meeting brings together 27 leaders of global companies from 17 countries, including EQT Corporation President and CEO Toby Rice, A.P. Møller-Maersk CEO Vincent Clerc, AES Corporation Chairman and CEO Andrés Gluski, and Stena Line Group CEO Niclas Mårtensson. The WEF's head for Latin America, Marisol Argueta de Barillas, said the agenda covers energy infrastructure, logistics, the Panama Canal, trade and sustainability, and includes the planned signing of a memorandum of understanding between the WEF and Panama's Ministry of Environment.
