Gov. Kay Ivey Announces $27 Million for Public School Projects: Auburn University to Receive $22 Million

Wednesday, October 21, 2026 · States · GSM News

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey announced on Oct. 21 in Montgomery that $27 million has been awarded to Public School and College Authority (PSCA) projects for capital spending at schools across the state. Auburn University will receive $22 million, and the newly established Alabama School of Healthcare Sciences will receive $5 million. Ivey formally approved the two awards at the PSCA's meeting the same day.

The governor said PSCA funding lets the state make a "generational investment" in the classrooms that educate the next generation, adding that there is no more important task than giving young people the best chance to succeed. She said she was especially proud to direct funding to Auburn University, her alma mater, and to the Alabama School of Healthcare Sciences.

The money comes from interest accumulated since a 2020 bond issue. The governor's office said more than $1.9 billion in PSCA funding has been awarded during Ivey's tenure. The Alabama School of Healthcare Sciences is a newly created specialty school, and its $5 million award will go toward campus construction.
