Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders Announces 344 Regulatory Changes to Cut Red Tape

Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced on Oct. 21 in Little Rock that state agencies have identified 344 regulatory and permitting processes that can be streamlined, with the goal of reducing paperwork, speeding up approvals and making government services easier to use. The announcement follows Executive Order 26-04, signed Feb. 16, 2026, which directed 13 state agencies to review how Arkansas issues permits, licenses and other regulatory approvals.
Of the 344 improvements, 51 have already been enacted and 24 are in progress, the review found; another 84 require statutory or rule changes by the legislature, and 80 require internal agency rule revisions.
"We don't grow the economy by government mandates; we grow it by getting government out of the way and letting entrepreneurs and small businesses do what they do best," Sanders said. She directed agencies to move forward with every reform possible now and to work with the legislature on the items needing legislation in the coming session.
