Colorado Labor Department Receives $6.74 Million Federal Grant for Workforce Training

The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) has received a $6.74 million federal grant to launch a workforce training initiative that will reimburse employers for up to 80 percent of the cost of training new hires and current employees. The Colorado Industry-Driven Skills Training Initiative will target advanced manufacturing, aerospace, super intelligence infrastructure, information technology, nuclear energy and domestic mineral production.
Colorado is one of seven states sharing $43 million through the second round of the U.S. Department of Labor's Industry-Driven Skills Training Fund. The program ties employer reimbursements to training outcomes and workforce needs. "This $6.74 million investment builds on Colorado's workforce training efforts, helping residents start new careers and advance in existing jobs while lowering training cost for employers," Gov. Jared Polis said.
CDLE will manage the initiative through a state-run digital portal, with reimbursements tied to two milestones. Local workforce areas will assist with employer outreach, participant recruitment and regional intake, and help eligible participants enroll in Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act programs for support services.
