Kentucky Auditor Allison Ball Nominates Three to the Executive Branch Ethics Commission

Wednesday, October 21, 2026 · States · GSM News

Kentucky Auditor Allison Ball has nominated three people to the state Executive Branch Ethics Commission: Christine Trout Van Tatenhove, Laurance VanMeter and David Beck, all familiar figures in Kentucky politics and public affairs.

The Executive Branch Ethics Commission oversees ethics for state executive-branch officials, administering financial disclosure and conflict-of-interest rules. The auditor's nomination authority stems from recent statutory changes: legislation concerning the State Fair Board in 2021 and a 2022 law settling appointment powers reshaped the makeup of several boards and commissions.

The nominations will proceed through the appointment process. The commission's composition has been a recurring topic in Frankfort in recent years, and the auditor's office said the nominees bring experience in public ethics and law. (GSM, based on reporting by Kentucky Lantern)
