Rapid City Legislative Forum: Six Candidates Vie for Three Seats, Data Centers a Flashpoint

A candidate forum for South Dakota's Legislative District 32 was held recently in Rapid City: six candidates are vying for three seats, and the event took place at Oglala Lakota College. Candidates in attendance included Uhre-Balk, Shelton, Hare and Martin; Duhamel and Duffy were absent.
Topics ranged across local taxes, education and economic development. Shelton stated clear opposition to building large-scale data centers locally, a position that drew discussion as data center siting becomes a contentious issue across South Dakota.
The District 32 election will be held Nov. 3. (GSM, based on reporting by South Dakota Public Broadcasting)
