Wisconsin Cranberry Growers Shape a Giant Baseball Glove From Millions of Berries to Cheer the Brewers

Wednesday, October 21, 2026 · States · GSM News

Wisconsin cranberry growers gathered on Oct. 21 at Gottschalk Cranberry in Cranmoor and shaped a giant baseball glove and ball out of millions of cranberries in a harvest bog, wishing the Milwaukee Brewers luck in the World Series — the Brewers' first trip to the Fall Classic since 1982.

The design, 100 feet long and 115 feet wide, was organized by the Wisconsin State Cranberry Growers Association: GPS mapping and flags marked the outline, and growers spent about four hours moving yellow booms to push the berries into place, with a plastic sheet forming the baseball. Owner Fawn Gottschalk's family farm was still in the middle of harvest, and two or three other local growers helped.

"October is our month, but we're happy to share it with the Brewers," Gottschalk said. Wisconsin is about to be the nation's top cranberry producer for the 32nd straight year. Game 1 of the World Series is Oct. 23; Gottschalk has tickets and will attend with her mother, son and boyfriend — she was 4 years old the last time the Brewers played in the Series.
