Nucor to Invest $60 Million Expanding Its Trinity Steel Structures Plant in Alabama, Adding 60 Jobs

Trinity, in Morgan County, Alabama, is set for a new industrial investment. U.S. steelmaker Nucor announced on Oct. 20 that it plans to invest $60 million to expand its Nucor Towers & Structures facility in Trinity, subject to regulatory and other approvals. The expansion will add production capacity, additional laydown space and a dedicated galvanizing inspection area for steel poles and other utility infrastructure products, and is expected to create about 60 jobs with average annual wages above $87,000.
Gov. Kay Ivey announced the project the same day. The facility began operating in September 2025 and sits adjacent to the Nucor Steel Decatur mill. Nucor employs more than 2,700 people at 12 locations across Alabama. Laurent De Mey, vice president and general manager of Nucor Towers & Structures, said the expansion will help the company better serve utility customers and create high-quality jobs in the region.
Decatur Mayor Kent Lawrence said the new jobs will directly help local families and bring continued industrial investment to Morgan County. Ivey called Nucor a long-term manufacturing partner for Alabama and said the expansion again shows business confidence in northern Alabama's workforce and business climate; Nucor reportedly considered other states during site selection before choosing to expand in the area.
