The Texarkana Advertising and Promotion Commission in Miller County, Arkansas, held a roughly six-hour meeting on Oct. 20 and approved a total of $1.178 million in 2027 tourism grants from 38 applications, with all six commissioners voting 6-0 in favor. The city Parks and Recreation Department received the largest total, $257,000 across two applications; Intense Lineberry Productions received $211,500 to stage four concerts and a barbecue contest; and the Texarkana Arkansas baseball association received $136,500 for the Ed Worrell park project. Channel 35 owner Wes Crenshaw's request for about $78,000 for tower rental and licensing fees was not funded.

Each commissioner scored every application; staff averaged the scores and rounded up to the nearest $500, bringing the raw average total of $1,171,666.67 to $1.178 million. Commission chair Ulysses Brewer and members Meredith Mills, Ellen Holmes, Danny Jewell, George Dodson and Rachel Scott all voted in favor. Several applicants were questioned about financial statements they had not submitted as required and about how their events would bring guests to hotels on the Arkansas side. The commission is funded by a dedicated tax on hotels and restaurants on the Arkansas side of the city.
