The Nuclear Company Unveils Kentucky's Prosperity One Nuclear Park: Up to Six AP1000 Reactors, About 6.6 Gigawatts

The Nuclear Company announced on Oct. 21 that it plans to build the 'Prosperity One' nuclear energy park in Lewis County, Kentucky, along the Ohio River, with room for up to six Westinghouse AP1000 reactors and total generating capacity of about 6.6 gigawatts. If fully built, it would be Kentucky's first commercial nuclear power project and one of the largest nuclear parks in the United States. The company said it has secured control of the project site, will work with local landowners and community leaders, and plans to begin site development and federal permitting, targeting a 2028 construction start.
Chief Nuclear Officer Joe Klecha said Ohio River communities have been the backbone of American industry for generations, and the company looks forward to partnering with the community to bring lasting jobs, a stronger tax base and reliable power. The company said the project answers the push to accelerate U.S. energy production and is a step toward restoring America's ability to build nuclear power at scale for a new generation of industrial investment.
