Three Portsmouth Landmarks Named to New Hampshire's 'Seven to Save' List: All in Prescott Park

The New Hampshire Preservation Alliance unveiled its 2026 'Seven to Save' list on Tuesday evening, and three Portsmouth buildings made it together: the Sheafe Warehouse, the Shaw Warehouse and the Marine Railway building — home to The Players' Ring theatre — all located in the city-owned Prescott Park.
'Seven to Save,' published annually since 2006, spotlights landmarks endangered by vacancy, deterioration, lack of funding or inappropriate development, and aims to draw attention and resources to them; alliance staff can help owners with grant applications and volunteer workdays. This year's seven selections include municipal landmarks, religious buildings, a historic bridge, a waterfront maritime complex and an arts and cultural center. The alliance said it received a record number of church nominations this year, underscoring the challenges facing community landmarks statewide.
