South Dakota House Poll: Marty Jackley Leads Nikki Gronli 60% to 32%

A new poll is out in the race for South Dakota's single U.S. House seat. The survey, commissioned by South Dakota News Watch and a University of South Dakota democracy research center and conducted by Mason-Dixon Polling from Oct. 12 to 14 among 500 likely voters, shows Republican Marty Jackley, the state's attorney general, leading Democrat Nikki Gronli 60 percent to 32 percent. Among independent voters, Gronli draws 44 percent and Jackley 45 percent, with 10 percent undecided.

Jackley served as state attorney general from 2009 to 2019 and again since 2023, and as a U.S. attorney from 2006 to 2009. 'The most important poll to me is on Election Day,' he said. Gronli is a former state director of USDA Rural Development, but the survey found more than half of respondents did not recognize her name, and a third of Democrats view Jackley favorably. South Dakota has one House seat with a two-year term; the election is Nov. 3.
