Rep. Dale Strong Announces $1.2 Million to Upgrade Lawrence County 911 System, Honors Afghanistan Hero

U.S. Representative Dale Strong of Alabama announced on October 21 that he had secured $1.2 million in federal funding to modernize the 911 radio system in Lawrence County. Strong, who has represented Alabama's 5th Congressional District since 2023 and is a former firefighter, said in an official social media post that he knows firsthand how important reliable communication is during an emergency, and that the upgrades will help first responders do their jobs safely and better protect the community.
On the same day, Strong also publicly honored Major Mike Connelly of North Alabama, saying Connelly risked his own life under enemy fire to save fellow American service members in Afghanistan, and thanking him for his extraordinary courage and service.
On October 20, Strong highlighted another North Alabama development: Nucor is investing $60 million to expand its manufacturing operations in Morgan County, which he called great news for the Fifth District and a testament to the strength of the local workforce. Strong succeeded Mo Brooks as the district's representative in 2023, after previously serving in the Alabama House of Representatives and on the Madison County Commission.
