Lake Elsinore Día de los Muertos Returns to Historic Main Street Oct. 24: Free Admission, Lowrider Show and Catrina Procession

The annual Día de los Muertos celebration in Lake Elsinore, a city in Riverside County, California, returns to Historic Main Street on Saturday, Oct. 24, running from 4 to 9 p.m. with free admission. The event is hosted by Studio 395 in partnership with the City of Lake Elsinore and the Downtown Merchants Association.
This year's theme is "A Path of Light and Flowers, Leading Our Loved Ones Home," reflecting the holiday's tradition of honoring and remembering loved ones who have passed. The celebration will feature live music and cultural dance performances, food and artisan vendors, and art installations by local artists. A Lucha Libre ring will be set up at Gediman Square, and a public Catrina procession is also planned.
The lowrider car show is a centerpiece: decorated vehicles will be displayed alongside community altars, and Studio 395 and the Lakeside Car Club will award prizes for best overall vehicle and best holiday decorations based on attendee votes, with the awards ceremony scheduled for 8:30 p.m. Car show participants must register and pay by Friday, Oct. 23; spaces are limited and assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, while admission to the festival itself is free.
Día de los Muertos, observed around Nov. 1–2, is a tradition in Mexican and Mexican American communities honoring deceased loved ones, with ofrenda altars, marigolds and candlelight as its hallmarks. For more information, contact Studio 395 at (951) 471-4407 or [email protected].
Main Street will be closed between Heald Avenue and Sulphur Street. Show-car check-in runs from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. on the day, with registration fees of $45 to $66 through Eventbrite by October 23; free parking is available at the event.
