Wednesday, October 21, 2026 · Nonprofit · GSM News

The Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation announced on October 21 that it will award more than $1 million in grants to nonprofit and youth hockey organizations across central Ohio for the 2026–27 season. The announcement was made ahead of the Blue Jackets' home game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, with a reception presented by Jet's Pizza. The foundation, the charitable arm of the National Hockey League's Columbus Blue Jackets, has contributed more than $18.5 million to the community since its founding in 2000.

The largest grants in this round are $250,000 to the City of Reynoldsburg for an outdoor street hockey rink and multi-sport court, expected to be completed in August 2027; $150,000 to the YMCA of Central Ohio for a playground project at Cherry Creek; and $100,000 to Nationwide Children's Hospital for the renovation of its Family Resource Center. Education partners will receive about $200,000 in total, pediatric cancer organizations nearly $160,000, and 12 youth hockey organizations more than $170,000 combined.

The foundation said its giving is organized around four pillars: health and safety, pediatric cancer, education, and youth hockey. Executive Director Tara Battiato said in the announcement that the grants will continue supporting programs for children and families across central Ohio.
