POLITICO Poll: 54% of Americans Support Impeaching Trump; Two-Thirds Expect Democrats to Try if They Flip the House

Wednesday, October 21, 2026 · Federal · GSM News

POLITICO released its latest survey, The POLITICO Poll, on October 21: 54 percent of Americans support impeaching President Donald Trump, including 81 percent of Democratic midterm voters and about a quarter of Republicans. Two-thirds of respondents said they expect Democrats to try to impeach him if they flip the House in the midterms.

The poll also found that majorities on both sides said Trump's first two impeachments made no difference, and that Democratic voters are split on whether candidates should campaign on impeachment. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries was noncommittal on the question.

Among Democratic midterm voters, the officials named as impeachment interests were Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (65 percent), Secretary of War Pete Hegseth (63 percent), Vice President JD Vance (58 percent) and Secretary of State Marco Rubio (49 percent). The midterm elections are on November 3.
