Missile Defense Agency Raises Raytheon Ceiling to About $2.999 Billion for AN/TPY-2 Radar Support

Wednesday, October 21, 2026 · Federal · GSM News

In its October 21 contract announcements, the Department of War said the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) has awarded Raytheon Co. of Woburn, Massachusetts, modification P00038 under indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract HQ0147-18-D-0001, raising the ceiling from $2,605,033,000 to $2,999,033,000 in a non-competitive two-year extension for operations and sustainment support of AN/TPY-2 radar systems.

Work will be performed in Woburn and at multiple radar sites inside and outside the continental United States, with the ordering period extended to October 31, 2028. Fiscal 2027 funds of $112,309,403 were obligated at award. The contracting activity is the Missile Defense Agency at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.

The AN/TPY-2 is a mobile, land-based radar used for long-range detection and tracking within the U.S. ballistic missile defense system. Other awards in the same day's contract list were smaller and are recorded as leads rather than individual stories.
