Rancho Palos Verdes Council's Oct. 20 Meeting: Storm Drain Inspection About 70% Done, RPVBiz Merchant Watch Program to Launch

Wednesday, October 21, 2026 · City · GSM News

The Rancho Palos Verdes City Council, in Los Angeles County, California, met on October 20 and received progress reports on the city's storm drain assessment, public safety operations and its annual priority projects.

On storm drains, the city owns roughly 25 miles of storm drain lines and about 770 catch basins. About 70% of the system has been inspected so far, and roughly 80% of what has been checked is in good condition. The council has approved a contract to complete the full inspection by March 2027 and to carry out urgent repairs where problems are found.

On public safety, the city's Public Safety Division reported on its recent work, and the city will launch RPVBiz, a neighborhood-watch-style program for local businesses. Staff also reviewed the city's 14 priority projects for fiscal year 2026-27: eight are progressing, three need attention and three are at risk.

The highlights are drawn from the city's post-meeting summary.
