Clearway Signs With PacifiCorp: Honeycomb Energy Center in Southern Utah to Add 210 MW of Battery Storage

Clearway Energy has signed an agreement with PacifiCorp to add 210 megawatts of battery storage at its Honeycomb Energy Center in southern Utah, bringing the site to seven systems totaling 2,120 megawatt-hours, the company announced. The expansion is backed by about $400 million in financing from a lender group including KeyBank, U.S.
Bank, NordLB and CoBank. Clearway's Valerie Wooley said the project, spanning Beaver and Iron counties, will employ at least 150 construction workers through Rosendin, generate more than $95 million in total tax revenue (about $37 million of it new), and raise the company's community donations to about $100,000 a year, including $60,000 in new annual giving.
The law firm Wilson Sonsini disclosed the transaction on October 20, following the company's October 9 announcement. Clearway Energy Inc.
will invest in the projects as they enter commercial operation.
