All Washington Public-Sector Unions Ratify 2027-29 Contracts; $589 Million General Fund Cost Heads to Legislature

Governor Bob Ferguson announced on October 20 that every voting union has ratified Washington's 2027-29 labor agreements, covering more than 30 collective bargaining contracts. Deals not settled by the Office of Financial Management's October 1 deadline were resolved through tentative agreements or binding arbitration.
The state research council pegs the general fund cost at about $589 million. The contracts contain no across-the-board wage increase, and the 85/15 health care cost split is maintained.
Under state law the legislature holds the final say on funding the contracts — it may approve or reject them as a whole in the budget.
