Federal Judge's Injunction Keeps Wisconsin Guard Braeden Carrington Eligible for a Fifth Season

Wednesday, October 21, 2026 · States · GSM News

A federal judge in California issued a preliminary injunction on October 20 in Glancey v. NCAA, clearing Wisconsin guard Braeden Carrington and fellow plaintiffs to play a fifth season in 2026-27, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

Carrington had already won a temporary restraining order in August. NCAA spokesman Tim Buckley said the association continues to prevail in eligibility cases at the appellate level and will keep defending its rules.

Wisconsin coach Greg Gard said on September 16 he planned to have Carrington available. Carrington averaged 8.3 points off the bench last season while shooting 40.2 percent from three, after two seasons at Minnesota and one at Tulsa; he scored 20 points in an October 15 exhibition against UW-Green Bay.
