Wednesday, October 21, 2026 · States · GSM News

The West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals held session at Westside High School in Clear Fork, Wyoming County, on October 20, hearing oral arguments in three cases before more than 350 high school students from Wyoming and McDowell counties and 10 students from the Appalachian School of Law, the court announced October 19. It was the court's first visit to Wyoming County under the LAWS civic education program, which has taken the court into schools since 1999.

Chief Justice C. Haley Bunn, a native of nearby Oceana, said bringing the court to students makes the justice system tangible for young West Virginians.

The court holds school sessions twice a year in different counties.
