Rock Springs Council Votes Unanimously to Pay $55,000, Closing Out First Security Bank Building Obligation

The Rock Springs City Council voted unanimously on Tuesday to pay Gordon Crofts $55,000, settling the last obligation tied to the First Security Bank building at 504 S. Main Street, SweetwaterNOW reported.
Crofts had donated the building with a return condition, but the 504 parcel was demolished and folded into an expansion, making return impossible. The city sold the property to developer Kody Watts for $75,000, and Crofts claimed $55,000 from the proceeds.
Under the deal, Watts must begin renovations within a year and substantially complete them within four years. The payment closes out the long-running question of the donated building's conditions.
