Wednesday, October 21, 2026 · States · GSM News

The Department of War's Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation (OLDCC) announced a $41.1 million federal grant to Arizona's Tucson Unified School District to rebuild the Frank Borman K8 School, located on Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. The total project cost is about $54 million, with the federal share of $41.1 million and the remainder provided locally.

The grant is made through the Public Schools on Military Installations program, which funds facility improvements at public schools located on military bases that primarily serve military families. Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson is a major U.S. Air Force installation for attack and rescue aircraft, and the on-base school's students are mostly children of service members.
