German Investor Morale Falls to 28.1 in October, Ending Five-Month Run of Gains: ZEW

BERLIN — German investor morale fell more than expected in October, the ZEW economic research institute said on October 20. The sentiment index dropped to 28.1 from 34.7 in September, below the 30 expected in a Reuters poll and ending a five-month run of improvements, while the current-situation index improved to -35.9 from -47.1. The survey of 178 analysts and investors was conducted from October 12 to 19. ZEW President Achim Wambach said the recovery is not self-sustaining, with high energy prices weighing on consumption and investment.
