Steel pipe maker Tenaris announced on October 21 at Arkansas Northeastern College in Blytheville that it is donating four robots valued at about $200,000, plus $10,000 for installation and commissioning. The company also created a scholarship program funding five students a year in industrial degree programs such as advanced manufacturing and steel technology.

Tenaris US President Guillermo Moreno and college President Christopher Heigle appeared together at the announcement. Moreno said investing in education supports the community and the industry's future, calling the college one of the company's longest-standing partners in Mississippi County over 20 years. Heigle said the robots will be integrated into hands-on training in industrial maintenance and steel technology courses. U.S. Representative Rick Crawford said in a statement the donation will help students gain experience with modern equipment.

The gift coincides with the 20th anniversary of Tenaris's acquisition of the Hickman welded pipe plant. Since entering Mississippi County in 2006, the company has put more than $4.4 million into after-school academic programs completed by over 2,260 students.
