Colorado Judicial Panel and Attorney General Seek to Seal Records Filed by Former Director

The Colorado Attorney General's Office filed an emergency motion on Wednesday, October 21, on behalf of the state Commission on Judicial Discipline, seeking to seal records in an October 13 filing by former executive director Christopher Gregory in Boulder County court, The Center Square reported on October 22. Gregory's filing accuses judges in the 20th Judicial District of bias and improper case assignment and asks that all district judges recuse themselves and a special court be appointed.
The commission argued judicial-discipline confidentiality must be preserved to protect complainants, witnesses, judges and the integrity of investigations, and attached a proposed redacted version. Gregory opposed redaction, saying the public is entitled to full knowledge of the alleged misconduct because state officials are paid by taxpayers.
It is the second such clash this month: on October 7 the commission moved to seal Gregory's petition seeking to compel prosecution of Attorney General Phil Weiser and others for allegedly covering up judicial misconduct. Gregory also sought a civil protection order against Weiser on October 1 and sued Weiser, Governor Jared Polis and the commission in federal court in Denver in 2025. His claims stem from what he says was his firing after investigating a contract he describes as $2.66 million to $2.75 million in hush money. No court has ruled on any of the motions.
