Thursday, October 22, 2026 · States · GSM News

Maryland's in-person early voting for the 2026 general election opens Thursday, October 22, and runs through October 29, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily including the weekend, the State Board of Elections announced on October 21. Registered voters may use any early voting center in their home county or Baltimore City. Eligible residents who have not registered or have moved can register and vote at an early voting center with proof of address such as a driver's license or utility bill; same-day registration is also available on Election Day.

For mail-in ballots, voters requesting delivery by mail or fax must apply by October 27; those requesting email delivery must apply by 11:59 p.m. on October 29 under the board's guide. Completed ballots must be postmarked by 8 p.m. on Election Day, November 3, or dropped off at an official drop box, early voting center or local elections office. Election Day voting runs 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at assigned polling places.

More than 590,000 Maryland voters have requested mail-in ballots. Montgomery County has 14 early voting centers, and county election officials suggest voting on the weekend to avoid last-day crowds. Voters can find centers, drop boxes and ballot status at vote.md.gov.
