Atlas Air Worldwide announced on October 22 that it is giving another $50,000 in scholarships to the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) in Anchorage, Alaska, supporting students pursuing careers as pilots and aviation maintenance technicians. The gift brings the company's total scholarship support for UAA students to $150,000 since 2024.

The announcement was made during an event at UAA's Aviation Technology Division at Merrill Field. UAA Chancellor Cheryl Siemers, U.S. Representative Nick Begich, Alaska Department of Transportation Commissioner Ryan Anderson, faculty, students and community leaders attended and toured flight simulation laboratories, air traffic control training facilities and maintenance hangars.

Atlas Air said Alaska is a cornerstone of its global network. The company is the largest cargo operator at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC), supporting more than 8,000 flights annually, making Anchorage its busiest location worldwide, with more than 600 pilots based there. The company said investing in the local aviation workforce is important to supporting Alaska's aviation and transportation industries. (GSM, based on an Atlas Air Worldwide release)
