Follow-up: Alaska pays second $1,200 Permanent Fund Dividend round today: checks leave Juneau starting October 22

Thursday, October 22, 2026 · States · GSM News

The second distribution of Alaska's 2026 Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) takes place on October 22. Under the payment schedule published by the Alaska Department of Revenue's Permanent Fund Dividend Division, applicants whose status was "Eligible-Not Paid" as of October 12 will be paid in this round, with paper checks mailed from Juneau, the state capital, starting October 22.

Each eligible resident receives $1,200 this year, consisting of a $1,000 dividend and a $200 energy relief payment, with the amount set by the Legislature in House Bill 263, the fiscal 2026 state operating budget. The first distribution was completed by direct deposit on October 1 for applicants who were eligible as of September 18 and had chosen electronic filing and direct deposit. The second round covers both electronic and paper filers and pays by direct deposit or paper check; residents who chose a check will wait longer because of mail delivery.

According to the Alaska Beacon, nearly 600,000 Alaskans will receive this year's dividend, at a total state cost of more than $800 million. The division says applicants can check their status through myPFD and should keep their mailing address current; the state also warns of phishing texts impersonating myAlaska, noting officials will never ask users to change a password by text or email. Under federal tax law, the full $1,200 must be reported as taxable income.
