Wednesday, October 21, 2026 · States · GSM News

Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small Sr. issued a statement on October 21 announcing that South Jersey businessman George Norcross has purchased the former Trump Plaza site in Atlantic City. Details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

"I am ecstatic that George Norcross, his family, and his partners are investing in the former Trump Plaza site," Small said in an October 21 email statement. Norcross has already done business in Atlantic City through Formica Bakery, and Small said the continued investment reflects that "investor confidence in Atlantic City is at an all-time high right now."

The Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino was one of three Atlantic City properties once owned by Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc., along with the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort and the Trump Marina Hotel Casino. Located at the center of the Boardwalk at the end of the Atlantic City Expressway, its main tower was demolished in 2021. According to a 2005 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Donald Trump was chairman of the company's board of directors.

Small said no additional casinos will be permitted in Atlantic City, welcomed the Norcross team's vision for the property, and said he looks forward to working with Norcross and his team, alongside New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill and Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson.
