Little Rock Man, 47, Sentenced to 15 Years in Federal Prison as Felon in Possession of a Firearm; Previously Sentenced to 30 Years for First-Degree Murder

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Arkansas announced that Andre Lavon Harris, 47, of Little Rock was sentenced on October 21 to 15 years (180 months) in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm. U.S. District Judge Lee P. Rudofsky also imposed three years of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
Harris had previously been sentenced in state court to 30 years for first-degree murder. A federal grand jury indicted him on three counts: felon in possession of a firearm, possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime. On July 6, 2026, Harris pleaded guilty to the felon-in-possession count.
The case dates to September 5, 2023, when DEA agents learned through an informant that Harris was distributing ounce quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl pills in Saline and Pulaski counties while wearing an ankle monitor, driving a black Chevrolet Tahoe and carrying a gun. Investigators confirmed he was a convicted felon on parole. On November 15, 2023, during a parole search at a traffic stop, agents found a loaded Taurus G3C 9mm semiautomatic pistol on the driver's-side floorboard — Harris said he got the gun 'off the street' — and, in a pill bottle in the center-console cup holder, 2.2 grams of crack cocaine, eight fentanyl pills and nine methamphetamine pills.
Harris's record also includes a July 23, 1999, first-degree murder conviction, a certain-persons firearm offense and second-degree battery.
The case was investigated by the DEA with assistance from the Little Rock Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Edward Walker.
