Attorney General Tong Announces $8 Million Settlement With Mylan: Alleged Conspiracy to Raise EpiPen Prices

Connecticut Attorney General William Tong announced on October 22 that the state has reached an $8 million settlement with pharmaceutical company Mylan, alleging the company illegally raised the price of the allergy emergency medication EpiPen in violation of state antitrust and consumer protection laws.
The settlement was announced jointly by the Attorney General's Office, the state Department of Consumer Protection and the state Department of Public Health. According to a press release issued by the Attorney General's Office on October 22, the investigation alleged that Mylan participated in a conspiracy to artificially inflate EpiPen prices, harming consumers.
EpiPen is a lifesaving medication for patients with severe allergies, and its pricing has been controversial in the United States for years. The $8 million settlement is another Connecticut enforcement action targeting drug price manipulation. The Attorney General's Office will detail the settlement terms and how the funds will be distributed in the full press release.
