Georgia Governor Brian Kemp announced on October 22 the appointment of Erin H. Fowler as a Forsyth County State Court judge, filling a vacancy created when the General Assembly passed HB 750 (Act 520) during its 2026 session to add a new judgeship.

According to the governor's office announcement that day, Fowler has served as a Forsyth County Magistrate Court judge since January 2017 and has also heard cases by assignment in the Superior Court of the Bell-Forsyth Judicial Circuit and in Forsyth County's State and Juvenile courts. Before becoming a full-time judge in 2024, she ran her own law firm handling family, juvenile and criminal matters, and her legal career has long served the local community.

Fowler earned a bachelor's degree in social science from Florida State University in 2005 and a law degree from Atlanta's John Marshall Law School in 2012, where she received the Melissa Hamrick Scholarship and the Dean's Award. She and her husband, Jeff, have been married 19 years, have two children, and live in Forsyth County.

The governor's office said the appointment was announced effective immediately and has been posted on the governor's website. Forsyth County, in the northern Atlanta metropolitan area, is one of Georgia's fastest-growing counties.
