University of Utah Indefinitely Suspends Defensive Tackle Jamal Wallace: Arrested in Case Involving Distribution of Intimate Images

Thursday, October 22, 2026 · States · GSM News

The University of Utah announced on October 22 that senior defensive tackle Jamal Wallace has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest earlier this month. An athletics department spokesperson said he was suspended on October 11 upon learning of the situation: 'We take this seriously; because legal proceedings are ongoing, we will not comment further at this time.'

According to The Salt Lake Tribune, Wallace was arrested on October 11 after a woman reported to police that he had raped her and distributed video of the alleged assault via her Snapchat account. Wallace was charged with the misdemeanor of distributing intimate images and released on $5,000 bail. According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by the Deseret News, Wallace denied the forcible sodomy, rape and intimate-image distribution allegations when questioned by officers. As of the evening of October 21, he had not been charged with rape. Officers wrote in the affidavit that they viewed the victim's phone and found 'two explicit videos involving Wallace and the victim.'

Wallace transferred to Utah from the University of Tennessee in January and has appeared in only one game this season. The case remains under investigation.
