White House Proclamation Designates October as National Energy Dominance Month: Proclamation Cites Over 6,000 Drilling Permits and $1 Billion for Coal

The White House issued a presidential proclamation on October 7 designating October 2026 as National Energy Dominance Month. In the proclamation, President Trump said the month recommits the nation to unleashing its abundant natural resources and strengthening energy independence.
The proclamation lists energy actions of the administration, including opening millions of acres of federal land for oil, gas and coal production and approving over 6,000 drilling permits; committing over $1 billion to revitalizing the coal industry; ending the freeze on new natural gas export terminals; and securing investment in nuclear energy. It states that U.S. domestic oil and gas production and liquefied natural gas exports reached record levels in 2025, with 2026 on pace to exceed them.
The proclamation also cites the Ratepayer Protection Pledge arranged on March 4, 2026, addressing electric power affordability for American households and businesses. National Energy Dominance Month is a national theme month established by presidential proclamation.
