Former Missouri Middle School Assistant Principal Daniel Ott Indicted on a Federal Child Pornography Charge

Thursday, October 22, 2026 · Justice · GSM News

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Missouri announced that Daniel Ott, the former assistant principal of a Missouri middle school, has been indicted in U.S. District Court in St. Louis. Ott, 41, was indicted on Oct. 14 with one count of receiving child pornography and appeared in court on Monday, pleading not guilty.

The indictment accuses Ott of receiving files containing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) between Sept. 1, 2024, and Sept. 3, 2026. Juan C. Valencia, 43, was indicted the same day with one count of distribution of child pornography and pleaded not guilty on Thursday; prosecutors say the cases involve the same period and some of the same files.

Each charge carries a potential penalty of five to 20 years in prison, the department said. Homeland Security Investigations and the St. Charles County Cyber Crime Task Force investigated the case, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Sila Karacal is prosecuting it.

Charges set forth in an indictment are merely accusations, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
