Wisconsin Building Commission Approves About $248 Million in Projects, Including $50 Million for 71 Local Community Projects

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers announced that the State Building Commission has approved a total of approximately $248 million in projects across the state.
The approvals include $50 million for 71 local community development projects funded through the Non-State Grant Program, covering hospitals, fire and EMS facilities, museums, libraries, and galleries. The program was created in the 2023-25 Biennial Budget signed by Gov. Evers, and the bipartisan 2025-27 Biennial Budget continued it with another $50 million investment.
The Commission also approved the sale of the State Human Services Building at 1 West Wilson Street in Madison under the governor's Vision 2030 Plan, reducing the state's billable office space by 92,000 square feet and saving an estimated over $194 million in repairs. Other approvals include fiber and cable upgrades at the State Capitol, the Phase V expansion of the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, residence hall additions and renovations at UW-Madison, and 20 maintenance and repair projects across 12 counties.
Gov. Evers said the funding will help communities across Wisconsin continue to grow and thrive. The Building Commission is chaired by the governor.
