Dune: Part Three Breaks BFI IMAX First-Day Presale Record Set by The Odyssey: 33,000 Tickets, Over £880,000
Denis Villeneuve's "Dune: Part Three" sold about 33,000 advance tickets in its first 24 hours on sale at London's BFI IMAX, grossing more than £880,000 (about $1.2 million) and setting a first-day presale record for the venue, according to Deadline. The previous record belonged to Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey," which took £750,000 from about 28,000 tickets on its first day.
BFI IMAX is the largest cinema screen in the United Kingdom. The rest of the venue's first-day chart, as reported, is "Dune: Part Two" at £366,000, "Oppenheimer" at £254,000 and "Avatar: Fire and Ash" at £116,000. BFI IMAX will present "Part Three" on IMAX 70mm film, with previews beginning Dec. 15 ahead of the film's Dec. 18 theatrical opening; the first two "Dune" films return to the venue from Dec. 11.
"Dune: Part Three," starring Timothée Chalamet, Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy and Zendaya, concludes Villeneuve's trilogy.
