Thursday, October 22, 2026 · States · GSM News

North Carolina Governor Josh Stein on October 20 joined Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley and local officials in Edenton to celebrate the opening of The Whiskey Project Group's North American manufacturing facility.

The group is an Australian maritime technology and advanced manufacturing company that designs, builds and sustains advanced watercraft for defense, government, commercial and recreational customers. The new 60,000-square-foot facility sits on a 50-acre waterfront site and will serve as the company's primary North American production and sustainment hub, building vessels under its Whiskey, NAiAD and VYCOR brands, including tactical multi-mission vessels, high-performance rigid-hulled inflatable boats and utility craft.

The governor's office said the facility is expected to create 30 new jobs initially, with more to come, in advanced manufacturing, engineering, technical services and vessel repair, bringing opportunities to Chowan County and neighboring areas.
