NVIDIA Launches OpenShell Reference Architecture at GTC Berlin: A Full-Stack Blueprint for Safe SI Agents

NVIDIA on October 21 announced the OpenShell Reference Architecture at GTC Berlin. The full-stack blueprint is designed for building, containing, observing and enforcing policy on SI agents, addressing security and governance as enterprises deploy agents that can carry out tasks autonomously.
Under NVIDIA's design, OpenShell is built on its Vera Rubin infrastructure and Nemotron models: agents think on Rubin, act on Vera CPUs, and are governed on BlueField data processing units running the Sentry security framework, which provides isolation and policy enforcement for agent behavior.
Ecosystem partners listed by NVIDIA include Anthropic, AWS, Cisco, CrowdStrike, Dell Technologies, Google Cloud, HPE, IBM, Meta, Microsoft, OpenAI, Palo Alto Networks, SAP, ServiceNow and Siemens. NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang said in the announcement that agents "can think on Rubin, act on Vera and be governed on BlueField."
