Flavio Bolsonaro Leads Lula 47% to 46% in Latest Poll Ahead of Brazil's October 25 Runoff

BRASILIA — Flavio Bolsonaro leads President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva by 47% to 46% ahead of Brazil's presidential runoff on October 25, according to a Datafolha poll released on October 22 and reported by Reuters. The one-point gap is well within the survey's margin of error.
The poll was conducted from October 20 to 22 among 2,154 voters, with a margin of error of plus or minus two percentage points, leaving the two candidates statistically tied. Since the first round, both campaigns have focused on the economy, security and cost-of-living issues in the final stretch.
Brazil uses a two-round system: if no candidate wins more than half the vote in the first round, the top two advance to a runoff. The October 25 vote will decide the leadership of South America's largest economy for the next four years.
