Greek Tourism Minister Courts Investors in Athens, Citing 27% Rise in Arrivals in First Four Months

ATHENS — Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni promoted investment in Greek tourism at the Investopia Mediterranean forum in Athens on October 22. She said arrivals have set records for three consecutive years and rose 27% year on year in the first four months of this year.
Kefalogianni said the tourism spatial planning framework adopted in August sets rules for tourism investment, aiming to guide development, ease pressure on saturated areas and give investors clearer expectations. Tourism is one of the pillars of the Greek economy, directly linked to jobs and foreign-exchange earnings.
The forum formed part of a UAE–Greece strategic forum at which the two sides signed a series of cooperation documents. Greece hopes Gulf capital will expand investment in hotels, resorts and tourism infrastructure.
