PANAMA CITY — The Panama Canal Authority has reported record results for fiscal year 2026 (October 2025 to September 2026): 13,951 vessel transits, up 4.1%, and transit tonnage of 521 million PC/UMS tons, up 6.5% and above the previous record of 518 million tons set in 2022.

Revenue rose 16.6% to about $6.6 billion. The Neopanamax locks handled 52.2% of total tonnage. Thanks to improved water levels, the canal maintained a maximum draft of 50 feet throughout the dry season and restored its "last-minute booking" service for the Panamax locks.

Canal Administrator Ilya Espino de Marotta presented the figures on October 21–22. The Panama Canal links the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, and its traffic volumes are widely watched as an indicator of global trade and shipping activity.
