LIMA — Peru's mining exports reached $57.492 billion in the first eight months of 2026, up 55% year on year and accounting for 74.3% of the country's total exports, according to figures released on October 22 by the National Society of Mining, Petroleum and Energy (SNMPE).

By product, copper exports were $26.513 billion, up 54.8%, while gold exports were $21.631 billion, up 58%. In August alone, mining exports totalled $7.858 billion, up 52.1%.

Peru is one of the world's leading copper producers, and mining is a pillar of its economy and public finances. The association said metal prices and export volumes together drove this year's strong growth, further increasing mining's contribution to Peru's trade surplus.
